About ready to give up on #nanowrimo - GAH!

I really don’t feel like going on with Nano anymore. It might be because I managed to get just a little bit behind with my word count (currently 18.186 - should be 20.005 by midnight) even though I’ve been doing a lot better this year than last, but gah. I just can’t seem to be able to focus on anything anymore.

It doesn’t help that one of my characters in the story I work on the most (Gemini), Miranda Foster from Three Rivers probably has a good chance of ending up completely out of character because I had to change her whole backstory to make it fit with Shane McCutcheon’s (The L Word) so that they could be twins. Shane’s relatively easy to write when you’ve been writing fanfic about her for the last 4-5 years, but she never had a sister on the show so that changes things a little. (WELL DUH!) So Shane is a mess, Miranda is a mess, the person she’s seeing is a mess and the only one who seems to be somewhat okay is the little Pomeranian except he’s developed a bit of a bad habit.

I just have a feeling that everything is gonna end up really really dumb and out of character and depressing and just about every negative adjective you can think of.

(In desperate need of some encouragement and INSPIRATION!)

Open letter to my stupid NaNoWriMo characters

You’ve annoyed me enough the last 11 days, so I feel the time has come for me to speak up and do something about this.

Main Character #1 - Stop being so damn emo. Who cares if your girlfriend died in one story or if you have cancer in another. I’m sure there are people who have it worse than you.

Main Character # 2 - Okay, you died, but that wasn’t my fault so you should be nice to me or I won’t let you stay alive in the other stories! And stop asking if I’m taking care of your dog, I gave him to Shane, ask her.

Main Character # 3 - Stop being a whiny bitch. Your life kinda sucks but at least you’re rich, so shut it already.

Main Character # 4 - You’re not even a real main character so stop trying to take over the story. I don’t care how hot you are, stop it!

Really, start doing as I say or I’m just gonna kill you off in the story.

And to all of you… I don’t mind picturing any of you naked, so by all means, go ahead if you wanna try to make up for all the crap you’ve tried to pull lately.

Can I please kill all my characters?

2nd day of Nano is over and the following has happened in my nano.doc file and has annoyed me:

  • Miranda says something to David that’s completely uncalled for.
  • Jenny drives drunk.
  • Shane seems to be too tired to actually use a single brain cell.
  • Alice is a… urgh. I don’t want that word in my blog.

It does make a LITTLE more sense when it’s actually in the right context, but it’s still annoying the f*** out of me. Gah. And that stuff is obviously not in the same story, but still. It’s like, COME ON, what are they thinking? Why can’t they do as I say? I’m writing the stories, I should get to decide.

The latest Three Rivers episode was awesome and had some stuff in it that cracked me up simply because it fits my Three Rivers/ L Word crossover fic, but it annoyed the hell out of me (and has for a few weeks) since the episode title was Alone Together and months ago I named the chapter I’m currently writing Together Alone. Like what are the odds?! Seriously! Give me a break! I’m sure as hell not changing my title.

This morning at 8 we had another “Rhino” meeting at a coffee place a few minutes from my house and we were there for about 3 hours. I’d love to tell you that we all got something useful done, but for the most part we were just being silly like last time. When I got home I slept for a little bit and since then I’ve been writing.

Current word count: 6 373 out of 50 000

2nd day goal: 3 334

Yay! I haven’t fallen behind yet XD - that’ll happen soon enough, trust me

Shane and Miranda are annoying me already

NaNoWriMo has begun.

Spent 7 hours at a Nano meeting with 8 other Wrimos (or Rhinos, as we now seem to call ourselves - don’t ask!) which was absolutely awesome, even if I after midnight didn’t get much done. I’m now at 717 words and before this day is over I’m supposed to have 1667 words. At this moment that doesn’t feel like a possibility, but I’m gonna try. If I could do it last year, I can do it again now, and also, this time I know that there are 8 other people around here suffering as much as I do. AWESOME!

The problem is Shane and Miranda. In Gemini (my L Word/Three Rivers crossover fic) they’re two twins who haven’t really talked to each other for 20 years and now I’m supposed to make them have some type of conversation, and it’s not only awkward for them, but for ME! I just wanna yell at them to grow up and get over it at this point, that that may be a sign that I actually need to get some sleep.

I’ve also noticed that tonight when I was writing, I had a tendency to write dialogue, write what they’re doing… But I couldn’t seem to put what they were thinking or feeling on the page. It bugs me, that’s usually the easiest part of writing for me, and now it’s just not there. I’m gonna have to do some serious editing on this.

I still have a couple of chapters left in the first Salander book so I’ll probably have to read tonight, because I know I won’t have much time to read this month. I’m procrastinating enough by posting in this damn thing.

Oh, and one last thing… If you can’t hear anything, it’s probably because your walls are full of lesbians.

The hell that is November is approaching…

Last year I reached the goal I set and actually managed to complete the NaNoWriMo and wrote 50 000 words of (fan)fiction in 30 days. This year I’m not gonna take it as seriously as I did then, and I’m gonna be a NaNo-Rebel and break the rules a little bit. This time the important thing is that I get some writing done, period, and I’m not gonna stick to just one story as I’m supposed to, but work on a few different ones.

For now, the goal is to complete the following chapters for my L Word and Three Rivers stories over at ATWWNS:

This is Treasure: Chapter 14-15
Gemini: Chapter 4-6
‘Til it’s Gone: Chapter 9-10
“Monkey & Squirrel”: Chapter 3
Battle Royale: Chapter 15
Wait Another Day: Chapter 2
… and at least one one-shot fic.

I’m gonna try to post some parts of what I’m working on here in the blog while I’m still working on it, maybe a few times a week and we’ll see how that goes. I’m probably not gonna get 50 000 words this time, but whatever I get is more than nothing, right?
