About ready to give up on #nanowrimo - GAH!

about-ready-to-give-up-on-nanowrimo-gah

I really don’t feel like going on with Nano anymore. It might be because I managed to get just a little bit behind with my word count (currently 18.186 - should be 20.005 by midnight) even though I’ve been doing a lot better this year than last, but gah. I just can’t seem to be able to focus on anything anymore.

It doesn’t help that one of my characters in the story I work on the most (Gemini), Miranda Foster from Three Rivers probably has a good chance of ending up completely out of character because I had to change her whole backstory to make it fit with Shane McCutcheon’s (The L Word) so that they could be twins. Shane’s relatively easy to write when you’ve been writing fanfic about her for the last 4-5 years, but she never had a sister on the show so that changes things a little. (WELL DUH!) So Shane is a mess, Miranda is a mess, the person she’s seeing is a mess and the only one who seems to be somewhat okay is the little Pomeranian except he’s developed a bit of a bad habit.

I just have a feeling that everything is gonna end up really really dumb and out of character and depressing and just about every negative adjective you can think of.

(In desperate need of some encouragement and INSPIRATION!)

    First of all, muuuuuuuuuuuuuk.

Secondly, if you do decide to give up on nano thats all right. I think you can do it and i think your stories are great. I also know you can catch up, wordcount wise. the only reason you fell behind is because you had migraines and didnt feel well sweetie, you cant beat yourself up because of that. But if it’s turning out to be too much stress for you then you shouldn’t torture yourself. You know I and the rest of the Rhinos will love you regardless.

As to Gemini, you know I love that story and that entire concept. i think it’s great. And you started it before 3R even started airing, so i dont think you should be too concerned with trying to align the character personalities with what’s being shown on air. Obviously fitting Shane in is gonna do that anyway, at least a little. Honestly I’m a little shocked at how IN character Miranda has been in it, especially considering you had no idea who she was when you started the story. As to them being messes, yes, but theyre allowed to be. You’re working on fixing their stuff, so there’s no harm in them being messed up right now.

And your stuff isnt dumb. Youre a good storyteller and a very good writer, whether you believe that or not.

Thanks for that. If you could point out to me exactly what I’ve managed to get right about Miranda on msn I’d appreciate it.
